Watch and Jewellery Repair
Now with rising prices of gold, silver and other precious metals, it makes sense why many people are fixing there old jewellery that has been lying in there jewellery box, rather than going out to buy new pieces. Where sometimes things are just not repairable, there is always the option of trading in the old for the new.
At Glitz Jewellery we specialize in re-designing and re-constructing your old and new jewellery. Everything from jewellery cleaning, polishing, onsite small repairs, to ring sizing and custom design. Our gold and silver smiths will repair your jewellery like new in a short amount of time.
Don't forget your watches.
We also offer watch repairs and battery replacement on site. Anything we can't do right away can also be repaired in our shop in a
short amount of time. Sometimes all a weathered old watch needs is a little polish and a bright new watch strap in your favorite colour to bring
it back to life.
If you have a question about a watch or jewellery repair or would like a quotation, please stop by and our staff will be delighted to offer you advice about your repair.
Pure silver, also called fine silver, is relatively soft, very malleable, so it is commonly combined with other metals to produce a more durable product. The most popular of these alloys is sterling silver, which consists of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper.
The small amount of copper added to sterling has very little effect on the metal's value. Instead, the price of the silver item is affected by the
labour involved in making the item, the skill of the craftsperson, and the intricacy of the design.
With proper care, your fine quality silver will last a lifetime. To minimize scratches and other damage, store your silver jewellery either in small zip lock bags or in a separate compartment in your jewellery box.
Avoid exposing your silver to household chemicals when cleaning with bleach or ammonia, or when swimming in chlorinated water, as these chemicals can damage silver.
